Darwin Day Celebration page

As vice-president of the Darwin Day Celebrations organization, inventor of Darwin Day, I was very pleased to see the great job you have done in spreading the word. I hope your involvement will make a difference in 2007 to continue the development and spread of knowledge and support of this event. I think it would be great if you had a link to our site (http://www.darwinday.org/).

Warmest Personal Regards,

Arthur Jackson

MM Darwin Day Celebration Team:

I'm very sorry that I did not get back to you in January when you wrote requesting advice on how to Celebrate Darwin Day. Unfortunately at that time I was so busy that I was not even reading my emails regularly. First however, let me say that I have recently taken time to browse and read your website and I'm very impressed! Congratulations on the graphics and information contained throughout your website, but especially in the section on "Mukto-Mona Celebrates Darwin Day!" I'm very pleased that you were able to launch your Darwin Day webpage for the 2006 Celebration. Also, thank you for displaying links to our website in such an attractive way.

We are currently getting ready to promote Darwin Day Celebrations (DDC's) for 2007 and will be featuring several sample-Websites of Events held in 2006 on our Homepage. They will serve as examples for others to consider while they are deciding on how they wish to join in the festivities celebrating Darwin, Science and Humanity! Your idea of an "Internet Congregation" consisting of integrated freethought communities worldwide is unique and will be of great value as they expand in number. Because of your unique approach and the quality of your website we will use it as one of the samples that we feature on our homepage during the next few months. In addition, we will link to a number of other websites about DD Events held in previous years to assist those wishing to join us, with ideas on how they can develop an appropriate celebration.

It's exciting to learn that you are promoting science and rationalism in both Bangladesh and India and that you are translating and publishing books on science especially on evolution as a counter action to fundamentalism. As you know, it is religious fundamentalism that is causing so much animosity around the world today and we must do our best to promote scientific knowledge everywhere. As you say on your website, "Freethought-communities can build cooperative, interrelated communities worldwide. Communities that rely on scientific knowledge to solve the problems facing our world today, without the interference of supernatural religions can contribute a great deal towards a peaceful future of human kind!" The paradigm that I like to promote to solve problems at all levels is one that consists of Verifiable Scientific Knowledge, Intellectual Maturity and Rational Thought.

One of the objectives of our organization this year is to make our website available in as many different languages as possible so the the global community can become involved. To do this, our programmer David Harris has developed templates based on 'Dreamweaver' to make it easy for volunteers to do the translations. Since you are able to translate English into Bengali, I would like to ask if you would be willing to consider translating our website so that it would be available to all those who speak Bengali. In addition, so that each language will have an opportunity to include some of it's own content we will provide a blank page where you can create content that is meaningful to your interests in celebrating Darwin, Science and Humanity. For the time being we are asking that this content be mostly textual in nature but simple pictures (those not containing animation) could be included and of course links to outside work of your choosing could also be included. You might also want to include a list of prominent Bengali scientists and philosophers such as those on your own website. We need some experience with this model before we can make it more elaborate. If you, or someone in your organization can do this you can let me, or David know at <dharris@darwinday.org> and he will explain how to proceed.

Sincerely yours,

Robert (Bob) Stephens President, Darwin Day Celebration

A Big Congratulations to MuktoMona site for celebrating Darwin Day with a new and different dimension. The Special Page looks excellent with both scholarly and interesting write-ups. I would request MM moderation team to publish a book based on those articles. Its an excellent job indeed.

Wish MM all the best.

Dear Mukto-Mona team:
Congratulations! It's my pleasure to visit such a well designed and informative page. Darwin is such a person who helped us thinking about the origin of life differently, other than the religious fables. And I believe 21st Century is the century of the religious fanatics, as I have been observing. So, these fanatics should know that there are people who care about the scientific path of life. Mukto-Mona's effort on this is well appreciated.

Thanks.

Congratulations.

Indeed it is the celebration of the message of the people who have had a profound and lasting impact on the societies, culture and religion.

I'm happy to see you are celebrating this day, we had planned on having a talk on Darwin, here you are going ahead with the plans. A series of lectures called "An evening of wisdom" and Charles Darwin was one of the persons who enlightened us.

Re: Special Announcement: Announcing our Darwin Day Special Page

I have looked over the Mukto-Mona website celebrating Darwin day. It is fantastic! I hope it gets as wide a publicity as possible. I am forwarding the website address to a number of young people I know. It is disheartening that at the beginning of the 21st century there is still controversy about evolution; but there is, and therefore it is all the more necessary to celebrate one of the most fundamental milestones in our understanding of ourselves that Darwin made possible.

Congratulations!

Darwin Day page was excellent and well beyond my expectation. Within a very short span of time you created something extraordinary. The quality of the write-ups are outstanding (except mine, this is the only weak link). However, I expected more Bangla articles from various writers. I don't know why people with good writing capability do not come forward.

Once again my appreciation for your hard work and finest creativity.

All I can say is WOW. What a spectacular presentation. I have not read all of the articles yet but I can see that the scope is wide and quite inclusive ranging from the history of myth to some very scientific data and even including thoughtful reviews of the ideas of dissenters. You have done an impressive job.
